7/17/10

Urg. I forgot when I woke up, but not a happy time. Oops, never mind. Today I NATURALLY  woke up at 6:40, but then, since it is SUMMER, I woke up 10 something. I really need to get myself to commit again. I really really need to learn in order to finish things like projects at school. NEED TO LEARN!

I knew that today  I HAD to go biking. At some island. I didn't feel that good about biking. Not that I can't bike without training wheels (:P) it's that I don't like biking, because I don't like being squished in a tight space and the only thing you could navigate on is the clumsy big bike. My brother is really good though. Like really, really good. Going super duper fast in a narrow road, having his seat vibrate because of the rocks and tree trunks on the road. SCARY! He is awesome.

So I wake up not optimistic, but I wanted to make sure that I had the correct clothes. Of course it isn't CRAZY cold or hot, its just biking, so I wanted to be prepared. Capri length tights (again, I wore them to a different one day biking trip) and a change color sun glasses t-shirt. I also brought a jacket, (as my dad told me to) and he iPad. I didn't if I would be blogging (Notes) or reading on the app Books. I really like Anne of Green Gables, so I can always pass time with that.

I forgot what I had for breakfast, but nothing out of the ordinary. I was definitely not excited. Haha, I was still wondering whether my parents actually meant that the whole family was going biking. The time sadly came. We all got onto the large car, with all the bikes loaded. I thought it would be not so long of a drive, but I ESTIMATE two and a half hours. Maybe. Not sure though. I spent most of my time doing stuff like reading Anne of Green Gables. I surprisingly didn't get ANY car sickness (only a bit, like at the end I KIND OF got it) I only chose to read the interesting parts of the book. Sometimes it got weird, and those are the really tiny parts. So tiny that I forgot the parts I didn't like. I think I had finished the book in the perfect amount of time. I still felt that the drive was really long getting to the parking lot.

FINALLY! We got to the parking lot place that is close to the dock thing. I felt so good to be able to stretch my legs entirely, and to be able to walk around. I don't like being in a crammed space, the exception is wearing tight and fitted clothes. (.. random ..) Once my dad unloaded the bikes and helmets, we went straight from there. We (whole family) biked across the street and onto the dock where the ferry was. We took turns using the bathroom and keeping watch over the bikes. We definitely didn't want our bikes stolen.

The ferry ride was pretty much a ferry ride. It was probably less than a mile (which is really little) from the dock to the island. So less of distance that the trees on the island were visible from the dock thing. A short little ride to calm myself down.

I was pretty scared of the biking thing. I am NOT a person who enjoys going crazy uphill and bumpy roads with a constant feeling of "I am going to die". The first part was just a paved road down to the actual trail. It looked like a hopeless abyss (abyss is like a endless pit, once I saw the beginning. Really I just hauled my bike onto the actual trail and started from there. Most of it was a really annoying uphill, and an okay width of the trail, not too scary. My brother was so mad, because the sign said "Unpaved" but was just a road with pebbles and stuff. He wanted leaves, LARGE rocks, tree roots, and all that stuff. I kind of got frightened at the thought of that. Some parts of the road was so intensely uphill that I just had to walk my bike up, with really tired legs. Several (and I mean FIVE of more times) my mom told us to stop for pictures. It was only annoying when we had just taken a break. Otherwise it was okay. The one time when it was all of a sudden down hill. BOY! That was a big load of adrenaline. It was pretty scary because I wasn't use to going that fast. I really wanted to try, so I was pedaling while going down hill. Haha, I once was afraid I was going to flip over. But then, I was too chicken to go any faster on the other down hill parts. The very last part of the biking trip was, -I HATE TO ADMIT IT- fun. I was getting more confident in my biking thing, and then the BEST adventure ever. It was more like mountain biking, with just more terrain. More bumps, more of a wild adventure. That really made my day, finally being able to be biking in a mountain biking SETTING, but a beginning standards. There were no super duper uphill parts.

By the end of the day, I was SO tired. That made me THANKFUL of the ferry ride and i was just chilling out, pretty exhausted. On the way home I was also thankful of the long ride, as I wore my mom's Patagonia jacket and tried to fall asleep until we got home.
